The journey begins with a meeting to establish your requirements. This can be done either in our workshop or at your home/premises at a convenient time to you. We prefer to visit you, to get a feel of the environment the furniture is designed for. This way we can assess the space, take all the measurements and information we need to make the item and review any practical issues such as access or positions of electrical sockets. We can also advise you what timber or finishes might be suitable and best compliment your surroundings.

We will bring with us our extensive portfolio to show you just what can be achieved and maybe inspire you. We know it can be quite a daunting prospect for people to commission furniture which can be sometimes of considerable size complexity or cost and very difficult for you to visualise just what you are looking for. We offer a reassuring and expert view on what we think will be the correct solution.

Once the requirements for the furniture have been established we will go away and produce a series of designs (usually 3 or more) and appropriate costings, for your consideration. If our designs are of interest to you and you wish to take things further we will arrange further consultation to refine an initial idea or confirm one of our chosen ideas.

Having discussed any required alterations and finalised the design our final quotation will be given. Following your approval and agreement to proceed with the commission we ask for a deposit before work can finally begin at our workshop.

When work is underway we encourage you to visit the workshop to see your piece being created. Sometimes this is necessary especially if we build a prototype or model for some of the more complex items. A full size drawing or mock-up is sometimes used as a visual aid for us and you to check just how the piece will sit in its environment.
